Frisco’s First Fortune 500 Company Breaks Ground at The Star

In February 2018, Keurig Dr Pepper announced that after 20 years in Plano, they would be moving their Texas Headquarters just three miles north to The Star in Frisco, an iconic destination along the North Platinum Corridor. Last Thursday, May 23, 2019, executives involved in the collaboration officially ‘turned the dirt’ on the new building.

Adjacent to the Dallas Cowboys practice fields, the new building will occupy a 2.49-acre plot of land with an estimated value of $190 million. 1,100 employees will enjoy modern technology and comforts in a 350,000 square foot, built-to-suit, and state-of-the-art work setting, in addition to the entertainment and dining benefits of The Star District.

Expected to be complete in 2021, the facility will serve as one of two company headquarters, the other located in Burlington Massachusetts.

In a milestone ceremony Jerry Jones, Owner, President and General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys, along with City of Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney, and Bob Gamgort, CEO of Keurig Dr. Pepper, spoke of their excitement on the collaboration and delight in welcoming Frisco’s first Fortune 500 company.

With his family looking on, Jerry Jones opened the groundbreaking by describing his love for the Dr. Pepper brand.

Ever since the day my family decided to become involved with the Dallas Cowboys, we came to appreciate the heritage of this brand. We are excited to team up with Keurig Dr Pepper to grow our long-standing relationship. We look forward to working together to continue to foster an environment at The Star that values community and innovation, along with advancing business. This is an exciting day for our organization, and I am very proud.

He also described his appreciation of and support of the City of Frisco and praised what a magnificent a job they've done, emphasizing how the Dallas Cowboys fit into the ethos of what Frisco is about.

Dr Pepper Keurig Frisco TXDr Pepper Snapple group was acquired by Keurig Green Mountain in July 2018 for over $18 billion and thereby combined, became a Fortune 500 company. They're one of the Top Ten food and beverage companies in the US and the first company to put hot and cold beverages together under the same brand.

Bob Gamgort, Chairman and CEO of Keurig Dr Pepper described how they've enjoyed a terrific brand relationship with the Dallas Cowboys and are now ready to take it a step further by locating their Texas headquarters to The Star.

Upgrading our Texas co-headquarters location will allow us to support the needs of our expanding business. The new location at The Star in Frisco places us in the center of a vibrant and growing community, with access to state of the art collaboration tools and a wide variety of lifestyle amenities to enable us to attract and retain the best team members in the industry.

He described how almost as soon as the companies merged, they set about looking for a new place that would speak to their ambitions and culture. That search brought them to the vibrant and growing community of Frisco and appeared to be a perfect choice for their long-term home.

He thanked the City of Frisco and the Frisco Economic Development Corporation for making their dream a reality, and further proving that Frisco is worthy of the title ‘No.1 place to live in America.”

Mayor Cheney reminisced about how just five years ago they broke ground on The Star itself and now they're celebrating a wonderful partnership of two strong brands who have deep roots in their home of Texas.

The business community at The Star has made a significant impact on our city’s corporate landscape. Keurig Dr Pepper’s move strengthens Frisco’s position as one of the top corporate relocation destinations in the country and will continue to benefit our residents and business community for years to come. Frisco is certainly better adding this great brand to our community.  Really everything is better when you add Dr Pepper

Now everyone is watching to see who will follow their lead.
