Why You Should Care About Your Mortgage Lender’s Core Values

The saying goes, ‘You never get a second chance to make a first impression’. Physical appearance, body language, personal references… these are all things which influence our first impressions of others.

When it comes to choosing a company to do business with, what speaks volumes to you from the beginning? Is it their fancy logo? Their flashy website? Perhaps. But it's those early interactions with them, that, in the end, will speak the loudest.

Why a Company's Core Values Matter to You

A company should be clear about who they are, and accountable to those distinctions. What makes them different from everyone else in their industry or field?

Core values should determine the priorities of a company, and in the end, the customer's experience with them.

It Starts With a Good Foundation

Recently, I had an opportunity to sit with representatives from Trinity Oaks Mortgage. What I expected would be a fairly straightforward, typical conversation with a mortgage company quickly turned into something far more inspiring.

Let’s face it, mortgages and home lending are not usually the most invigorating of discussion topics, but Gabe Garza, Frisco Branch Manager, and Kaitlyn Osteen, Marketing Coordinator, not only love their jobs but feel a strong sense of loyalty to the company and have a sincere respect for its core values. Not to mention, they each have warm personalities that make you want to keep their company longer.

To dig deeper about said values, I met with Spiritual Formation Officer, Bobby Parks.

Bobby has been with the company over two years supporting the organization and its employees, always encouraging everyone to see the greater picture…that they're a part of something bigger than themselves.

His background is community outreach, along with coordination, leadership, and participation in mission trips worldwide. He connected with Trinity Oaks Mortgage and its Founders while learning of its vision to reach others through advocacy, a ‘give back’ philosophy and connecting employees to a bigger purpose by use of core values. Bobby walked me through them in a little more detail.

Generous Love

Actions speak louder than words, and at the end of the day, it's about loving others. The company's foundation and culture is centered around this priority: “To generate love in the ways we serve, connect with our vendors, partners, customers, clients, and colleagues.”

Second Mile Service

You've heard the phrase “going the extra mile”. Trinity Oaks Mortgage offers Second Mile service, striving to exceed all expectations. They strive to serve others, believing that it's better to serve others than to be served.

Relentless Pursuit of Excellence

No company is perfect, and Trinity Oaks is no exception, but they uphold a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. They want to be bigger and better in what they do and embrace accountability for how they carry out their daily work.

Honest Communication

The Trinity Oaks Mortgage team is committed to 100% honest communication both internally and externally. Where the opportunity arises, it's always important to provide feedback and clear expectations in line with this value. Trinity Oaks' believes there's a right way to challenge the process, but that doing so with integrity and honesty is of the utmost importance.

Beyond the Bottom Line

rinity_Oaks_Mortgage_Logo_VTo support these core values Trinity Oaks Mortgage and their partners participate in many mission trips and outreach programs encouraging their employees to get involved and serve with a purpose.

For example, as recently as October 2018 the company traveled to El Salvador to build a water treatment system and well in a remote village. Bobby explained,

We didn’t just arrive there and start telling them what to do but rather partnered with local churches and leaders and join them in working together for a solution.  It was a great success and anyone who was involved came back with a whole new perspective.

In addition, they also participate in other local outreach and afterschool programs, all of which has proven to improve company productivity and efficiency.

Why it Matters to You

When choosing to put something as big as your home buying process into the hands of a lender, you're not only trusting a particular company but the people behind it. The Trinity Oaks team is invested in, and are living every day by clear, guiding values. Actions truly do speak louder than words, and Trinity Oaks Mortgage wants its customers to feel the difference.

Bobby explained to me, “Your value determines what you do and what shapes an organization is its values and the people who emulate that.”

If you're looking for a lender, contact a loan officer from Trinity Oaks Mortgage and at the very least, experience authentic communication and time well spent with people who look beyond the rates and figures so that you walk away with a positive experience.
